If there had been around 5000 different kinds on the ark, and those populations subdivided once each 1000 years and using the date of the flood of around 2400 B.C., 1400 B.C. there would have been 10,000 species; 400 B.C. there would have been 20,000 species; A.D. 600, 40,000 species — well over the total species above.
